from season 6. the story is very similar to what happened at johns hopkins hospital today so we can certainly understand if you don't want to watch it. wyatt? >> all right kelly. get you right into the weather out there. we do have some developing storms across the area, especially north and east of baltimore, kent county on the eastern shore. let's get a look at that. maryland's most powerful radar tracking that cluster of storms that blew through baltimore in the last 30 to 45 minutes, the worst of which are now crossing across the northern part of the chesapeake. again you can see ha large line of storms packing healthy lightning in the last hour. severe thunderstorm warnings up, cecil and kent county, extending all the way through 5:30 p.m. so we've got about another 23 minutes on those. temperatures coming off with that rain. these could be gusty as well. we'll talk much more about the

outlook into the weekend. coming up kelly. >> an escaped inmate and his pregnant girlfriend have been captured. paul pammer and gino res take far ya were arrested. they were charged with attempted murder for a stabbing in august. the 32-year-old escaped from police custody last friday while en route to central booking. they say palmer was able to break three from his hand restraints and escaped. she was traveling with palmer, she is charged with harboring a fugitive. they also recovered the kia spec tra with a bent frame. it's not clear if the couple used the car to drive across the country. prince george's county, three people were killed after an ambulance collided with an suv. police athe ambulance was respond to go a call when the crash happened early this morning in district heights. investigators say the suv was traveling on the road in the wrong direction and speeding and that's when the ambulance swerved to avoid it.

the suv sideswiped the ambulance before crashing into a brick wall and a utility pole. all three men inside the suv died at the scott peterson. a baltimore county couple is behind bars tonight after police say they severely assaulted a woman and locked her in the bath room. it happened in the 100 block of book berry drive in reisterstown where jeff haeger reports the alleged abuse continued for almost a year. >> reporter: they painted themselves as good samaritans, jermaine smith bay and kimberlay stacey king said a man called to tell them they could find one of their friends in need. medical need it turned out. so they drove her here to greater baltimore medical center where she slipped into a comb, a once she regained consciousness two weeks later police learned their so-called good samaritans were actually suspects. >> around september the 9th the victim woke up out of a coma and she was able to tell police

officers that she in fact had been the victim of numerous assaults and she had been confined or imprisoned in an apt at reisterstown. >> reporter: inside one of these apartments at the preserve of ocean crossing they repeatedly beat the woman and burned her with cigarettes when she tried to call out for help imprisoned in a bathroom. they say smith-bay's girlfriend never questioned her treatment. doctors at bbc found the victim had been blinded in one eye, part of her upper lip is missing, she suffered injuries from being strangled and several fractures to her ribs and spine. open wounds have left her with staff infections and a flash- eating bacteria throughout her body. the motive was money. >> somehow they were able to get ahold of her bank cards and they were using her bank card to remove money from the bank machine.

the money which she was receiving from social security income. >> reporter: smith bay and king are being held on charges of attempted murder, assault and faults imprisonment. jeff haying ar, abc 2 news. >> police say the couple also took the victim's 1-year-old baby away from her and that child has been placed in the custody of social services. other small children in the home, they say, were aware of the victim's abuse and would often try to sneak her a blanket as she slept on the floor of the bathroom. in democracy 2010 tonight challenger greg bernstein has widened his lead in the race for city state attorney. city election workers finished counting out ballots this afternoon, before that he held a 1295 lead over jess a me. his lead now stands at 1363 votes as cording to the baltimore city board of elections web site. there were more than 2,000

corridor here, a couple of thunderstorms in effect as well for cecil and kent county, you can kind of see why. there is still going to be wet weather, showers, a couple of downpours out to the west that will continue to move through on and off through the rest of the evening here, again the most intense of these storms back from elston southward especially back towards kalena, tracking into delaware, just north to chester town, a pretty heavy downpour, as well those current warnings 5:30 through cecil county down through kent county, we'll see if that gets extended or not here, in just about 11 minutes from the national weather service. all right. let's say you're downtown right now, a little slick at the moment, not a huge view weather wise at the moment downtown but there's some rain out there. slick roads too, when it hasn't rained in a while the oils come up, makes it slick to drive. 72, temperature-wise northwest winds at 8, as we take a lack at some of our weather net cameras across the straight you

see those skies darken and heavy downpours roll in out of the west there downtown. similar scenario there as the skies are sort of dark engineer in, the whole storm system dropping, temperatures at one point today, surged close to 90. just south and west of the inner harbor west of d.c. but out near hagerstown never above 67 so that's that boundary across the state right now. along that boundary things a little breezy and those showers and storms developing in a hurry late this afternoon, you can see the cluster moving in and the storm trying to pull out ahead of the line, 3:30, 4:00 those storms pop up. for the rest of the evening we'll see less and less lightning but we'll see still wet weather on and off through the rest of the night. finally clearing out through the day tomorrow. we may see a morning brief slight shower but we'll dry it out friday afternoon looking much nicer and into the weekend we're talk about a ton of sunshine, looks fantastic:tropics still

extremely active. hurricane igor, julia down here looking less and less impressive. call out in the lower caribbean toward the bay of cam peachy. the big one we're focused on is going to be igor, still a monster hurricane, with 125 miles per hour winds still tracking right at bermuda. expected to make a turn, probably not quite in time but hopefully in time for bermuda and some of those big waves will roll in the beaches at bermuda as we roll into next week. showers are going to linger, still some lightning possible in the next few hours, as we look at tomorrow, 83, and then a nice scenario into tomorrow night as skies clear out and we're talking about 60, your seven-day forecast again looking ahead toward the weekend, nice looking weather on tap. we'll bring back the sunshine, talking about low 80s and just a gorgeous final weekend of summer 2010. got to love it. kelly. >> thanks a lot wyatt. when it comes to improving

well people experiencing getting hit with kidney stones has been on the 'rise in the united states for the past 30 years. while doctors are not sure why there's been an increase a new study found that a diet known to reduce blood pressure seems to also reduce the risk of painful kidney stones. dr. timothy johnston has the details. >> reporter: the die teary approach is to stop

hypertension propping, also known as the dash program, is a diet high in fruits, vegetables, nuts and dairy products, but low in red meat and sugary drinks. they showed the -- diet helped to lower blood pressure and now they found the combination of foods may also help reduce the risk of kidney stones. the kidney stone is a solid mass made up of tiny crystals and while they are relatively common they are also usually very painful. more than 3400 people with and without a history of kidney stones were involved in the study. and researchers analyse urine samples of the study's participants. despite drinking similar amounts of liquid people who followed a ---style diet why you are nateed more than those who did not follow the diet. they seemed also to have higher concentrations of sit trait, an important salt that prevents calcium stones, they say the lower rate of kidney stones could be due to the higher
